Annually, Soroptimist International Whitefish (SIW) provides grant funding to nonprofit organizations that offer programs or services for women and girls. We aim to leverage our resources to increase our ability to meet our mission of empowering women and girls.

Grant funding is intended to improve health and safety circumstances and/or provide economically empowering education and training for women and girls.

Selection criteria include the following:

  • Seventy-five percent (75%) of the proposed program or service participants must be women or girls
  • Applicants must simultaneously show financial need and sufficient organizational strength to perform.
  • Preference is given to local nonprofits including Flathead, Lake and Lincoln counties.
  • Applicants must demonstrate their IRS nonprofit status.

Grants selections are made annually in the spring and we expect to award a total of $30,000 in grants in 2026. The average grant size is $2,000 but grants have ranged from a few hundred dollars up to $15,000 during the last five years.

The application portal opens on January 1 and closes February 15, 2026. Grant recipients are announced by mid-March.

Funding for SIW and its promoted programs is provided by income from the Whitefish Thrift Haus, located at 303 E. First Street in Whitefish. The Whitefish Thrift Haus, truly where “Shopping is Giving,” is open Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 5pm and Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
